Why Should I Fast

21 DAYS PRAYER AND FASTING – DAY 21
  • Are you in need of healing or a miracle?

  • Do you need the tender touch of God in your life?

  • Is there a dream inside you that only He can make possible?

  • Are you in need of a fresh encounter?

  • Do you desire a deeper, more intimate and powerful relationship with the Lord?

  • Are you ready to have heightened sensitivity to the desires of God?

  • Do you need to break away from bondages that have been holding you hostage?

  • Is there a friend or loved one that needs Salvation?

  • Do you desire to know Gods will for your life?

Step : Set Your Objective

Why are you fasting? Is it for spiritual renewal, for guidance, for healing, for the resolution of problems, for special grace to handle a difficult situation? Ask the Holy Spirit to clarify His leading and objectives for your prayer fast. This will enable you to pray more specifically and strategically.

Through fasting and prayer we humble ourselves before God so the Holy Spirit will stir our souls, awaken our churches, and heal our land according to 2 Chronicles 7:14. Make this a priority in your fasting.

Step : End Your Fast Gradually

Begin eating gradually. Do not eat solid foods immediately after your fast. Suddenly reintroducing solid food to your stomach and digestive tract will likely have negative, even dangerous, consequences. Try several smaller meals or snacks each day. If you end your fast gradually, the beneficial physical and spiritual effects will result in continued good health.

Here are some suggestions to help you end your fast properly:

  • Break an extended water fast with fruit such as watermelon.
  • While continuing to drink fruit or vegetable juices, add the following:
  • First day: Add a raw salad.
  • Second day: Add baked or boiled potato, no butter or seasoning.
  • Third day: Add a steamed vegetable.
  • Thereafter: Begin to reintroduce your normal diet.
  • Gradually return to regular eating with several small snacks during the first few days. Start with a little soup and fresh fruit such as watermelon and cantaloupe. Advance to a few tablespoons of solid foods such as raw fruits and vegetables or a raw salad and baked potato.

Days Of Prayer And Fasting 2022

2022 is almost here and we want to start it off with Prayer and Fasting together. The Elders are calling for 21-Days of Prayer and Fasting as we begin 2022. In addition we have again designated Tuesdays as a day of Prayer and Fasting here at Brick. We encourage everyone who calls Brick Home to join with us January 2 22 in prayer and fasting. A prayer and Fasting Guide is available in the Narthex and for .

We are not asking everyone to fast food and only drink water for 21 days. If God calls you to do that then go for it. We are asking that you seek the Lord as to how you will fast along with us. While it is good to give up certain things , a Biblical fast always involves abstaining from food intake of one kind or another and devoting more time to pray, listen and seek God. Below I have listed some ways to fast that you could consider as you are asking God to lead you as to how/what to fast. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.

    WAYS TO FAST

As the Lord leads, you could choose one fast to participate in or a combination of fasts throughout the time. The key is to seek the Lord for His leading, make a decision on what to do and then stick to it. Be sure to pray for each other as we fast together and dont hesitate to lean on others for some encouragement and support. We are in this together.

    Why Are We Doing This

While prayer should always be a part of the life of a believer, it is helpful to have times of focused, intentional prayer that go beyond the normal pace of living. Though fasting is not required in order to pursue God more deeply in prayer, it is a great and helpful tool in pursuing Him with greater intensity.

    Why Do We Fast

Fasting is a spiritual practice that enables the body of Christ to grow in their relationship with God. The purpose of a fast is the set aside a specific span of time for restricting certain foods or practices as a physical commitment to seek God through deeper personal engagement and fervent prayer. When we combine fasting with prayer and meditation, we can experience a more focused time of closeness with our Lord and seek His wisdom and help.

    Learn About Prayer And Feasting

Jesus said that the very reason He came was to seek and save those who are lost.

    Luke 19:10

We were all lost until we met Jesus. We know that relationship with Him changes everything. He forgives our sins, mistakes and screw-ups, He fixes what we think is beyond repair, and He gives hope that things can and will get better.

We want everyone around us to experience this amazing life too! Jesus Great Commission for all of us in Matthew 28:18-20 was that we must go into all the world and get people connected to Him.

From August 12 to September 2, our whole church will be focusing 21 Days of Prayer and Feasting to get people connected to God.1.) We will be praying every day for people in our lives who are lost to get connected to God, AND2.) We will be praying for God to use us to make that connection as we share meals together.

The first Christian church in Acts 2 saw sharing meals together as a powerful way to make connections and share their faith. We will follow their example and intentionally be looking for opportunities to feast together and get people connected to Jesus. Join us as we practice sharing our faith at family dinners, coffee talks at Starbucks, backyard barbecues, luaus, lunch breaks, protein shakes at the gym, musubis at the beach or however you share meals and have good conversation.

    Step : Make Your Commitment

Pray about the kind of fast you should undertake. Jesus implied that all of His followers should fast For Him it was a matter of when believers would fast, not if they would do it. Before you fast, decide the following up front:

    • How long you will fast one meal, one day, a week, several weeks, forty days
    • The type of fast God wants you to undertake .
    • What physical or social activities you will restrict.
    • How much time each day you will devote to prayer and Gods Word.

Making these commitments ahead of time will help you sustain your fast when physical temptations and lifes pressures tempt you to abandon it.

    What Is The Daniel Fast

21 DAYS FASTING PRAYERS| BRO. ENOSH | Emmanuel ministries Eluru

The Daniel Fast is based on the prophet Daniels experiences at two different times in his life.

10 Day Fast: In Daniel 1, Daniel chose not to eat the royal food that he was being served and ate only vegetables and drank water. The results were learning, skill, wisdom, spiritual understanding, favor, and better appearance

Daniel spoke with the attendant who had been appointed by the chief of staff to look after Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah. Please test us for ten days on a diet of vegetables and water, Daniel said.At the end of the ten days, Daniel and his three friends looked healthier and better nourished than the young men who had been eating the food assigned by the king.

    Daniel 1:11-12, 15

21 Day Fast: Another time, in Daniel 10, he deprived himself of choice food, meat, and wine as he sought the Lord in prayer. The fast resulted in answered prayer and spiritual insight.

I ate no delicacies, no meat or wine entered my mouth, nor did I anoint myself at all, for the full three weeksThen he said, Dont be afraid, Daniel. Since the first day you began to pray for understanding and to humble yourself before your God, your request has been heard in heaven. I have come in answer to your prayer.

    Daniel 10:3, 12

Three key components to the Daniel Fast:1. Only fruits, vegetables, nuts, & whole grains.2. Only water or natural fruit juice for a beverage.3. No sweeteners, breads, meat, eggs or dairy products.

    Step : Prepare Yourself Spiritually

The very foundation of fasting and prayer is repentance. Unconfessed sin will hinder your prayers. Here are several things you can do to prepare your heart:

    • Ask God to help you make a comprehensive list of your sins.
    • Confess every sin that the Holy Spirit calls to your remembrance and accept Gods forgiveness .
    • Seek forgiveness from all whom you have offended, and forgive all who have hurt you .
    • Make restitution as the Holy Spirit leads you.
    • Ask God to fill you with His Holy Spirit according to His command in Ephesians 5:18 and His promise in 1 John 5:14,15.
    • Surrender your life fully to Jesus Christ as your Lord and Master refuse to obey your worldly nature .
    • Meditate on the attributes of God, His love, sovereignty, power, wisdom, faithfulness, grace, compassion, and others .
    • Begin your time of fasting and prayer with an expectant heart .
    • Do not underestimate spiritual opposition. Satan sometimes intensifies the natural battle between body and spirit .
