On the morning of this day, you start with a big cup of tea and laxatives. I personally prefer Glauber salt over other options such as Epsom salt or a high-dose of magnesium because it always worked really well for me.
In the retreat, most people used magnesium as its a bit more gentle. It worked for them as well.
Whatever laxative you choose, make sure to drink a lot of water and unsweetened tea. And keep a toilet near you for the entire day. Remember your physical hunger vanishes as soon as your stomach and digestive system are empty.

How To Prepare Before Fasting Or Detoxing
It is important to ease into a fast to prevent shock to the body and allow for a smooth and easy transition. The more you can help your body in the pre-fast, easier your detox journey will be. If your body is used to eating lots of heavy or processed food, then fasting may be a bigger transition and will be a shock to the body to go from one extreme to the other.
If this is your first fast, perhaps start out really small with an 8-hour fast on a weekend when you don’t have much to do. Drink plenty of water and take green juices and skip eating breakfast and lunch and then have a light dinner â to give you an idea of what a detox would be like. Every body responds differently to fasting, and it can be difficult to predict what will happen on your detox journey. How Healthy Is Fasting

Phase 2: Purification

Over these days, about three litres of liquid per day are absorbed in the form of herbal teas with honey, vegetable broth, vegetable juices or mineral water. Buchinger therapeutic fasting is therefore a liquid fast. In the fasting hotels, care is taken to ensure that the body is provided with sufficient mineral nutrients despite not eating, which makes a decisive contribution to detoxification. During this phase, however, no more than 600 calories per day should be consumed.
