Our examples of a 40 day complete fast are Jesus and Moses who took things to the extreme by having no food or water for 40 days.
- So he was there with the Lord forty days and forty nights he did not eat bread or drink water. And he wrote on the tablets the words of the covenant, the Ten Commandments.
- And after He had fasted forty days and forty nights, He then became hungry.
Please note that these are extreme examples of fasting and prayer and you should never consider this until after consulting a doctor.

The Position Of The Heart Is The Heart Of Fasting
It doesnt matter if you give up Facebook or fried food for God, the place of your heart matters most. 1 Samuel 15.22 says that The Lord looks at the inside of a man and not his outer appearance. This is also true for fasting. Matthew 6 17-18 states that fasting is not about displaying your faith to the world, but about your heart and intimacy with God Almighty. He will respond according to His timing and methods.

1. Thank the Lord because this year is your year of dumbfounding miracles.
2. Lord, I give You thanks for making me perfect.

5. I confess and repent of any act of sexual sins.
6. I confess the sins of my ancestors .
7. Ask the Lord for forgiveness.
8. O Lord, make known to me the secrets needed for my marital breakthroughs.

10. Every imagination of the enemy, against my marital life, be rendered impotent, in the name of Jesus.
11. I renounce any covenant, existing between me and a spirit husband or a spirit wife, in the name of Jesus.
12. Thou power in the blood of Jesus, separate me from the sins of my ancestors, in the name of Jesus.
13. I divorce my marriage to the king or queen of the coast, in the name of Jesus.
14. I renounce any evil dedication placed upon my life, in the name of Jesus.
15. I receive freedom from satanic marriage by fire, in the name of Jesus.
16. I break every evil edict and ordination, in the name of Jesus.
17. O Lord, wash me from blood contamination, in the name of Jesus
18. I renounce and loose myself from every negative dedication placed upon my life, in the name of Jesus.
19. Holy Ghost, prepare me for my marriage partner, in the name of Jesus.
20. All demons, associated with evil dedication, leave me now, in the name of Jesus Christ.

Remarkably, it took twenty-one days for the Angel to get past the forces of Darkness to reach Daniel. This is evidence that from the first moment we commit to a fast, the Lord hears us. He is always working in action to come near to us, and to send help.

A Fasting Prayer For Resisting Temptation:
All of us face temptation in life. Even Jesus was tempted in the wilderness and is our example of how to face it.
Matthew 4:1,2 describes, Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. After fasting forty days and forty nights, He was hungry.
Like Satan tempted Eve in the garden with food , he first tempted Jesus with food, too. The tempter came to Him and said, If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread. Jesus answered, It is written Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God .
Although Eve could eat from every tree in the garden except one in order to obey God, , she gave into temptation and ate from it .
Unlike Eve who had plenty to eat, Jesus was without food in the wilderness. Yet, through fasting and obeying Gods word, He resisted temptation and defeated the scheme of the evil one.

The Christians around me are more intolerant. Very rarely do I see a glimpse of the power or abundant life Jesus said His disciples would have.
That scares me. Does it scare you?
The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly.
Jesus, when talking to the disciples talks about the life of a believer being powerful and abundant. How do you get to that place of living a powerful, abundant life? I dont see much evidence of it around me and I desperately want it, dont you?
After many years in the faith, I realized there are parts of the scripture that we the Church ignore. Fasting is a spiritual discipline that the original believers would have practiced and seen great value in.
Jesus said we will fast when we need Him and a fast will be necessary.
