Lord, thank you for the lessons you taught me during fasting. Thank you for the ways you grew me in fruits of the spirit like patience and self-control. I know I could not have accomplished this by my own power, but only because of Your work in me.
Guide me as I move forward. If Your desire is for me is to fast again, show me that clearly. Help me not forget this time of fasting, but instead to use these lessons in my daily life. Above all, help me honor and serve You with the choices I make. I love you, Lord.

A Prayer To Prepare Your Heart To Fast:
Scripture describes how individuals fasted in preparation for fulfilling Gods purpose and calling in their lives, such as Moses, who was called by God to deliver His people out of Egypt.
Exodus 34:28 describes how he fasted during one of the most significant times in his life. Moses was there with the Lord forty days and forty nights without eating bread or drinking water. And he wrote on the tables the words of the covenant–the Ten Commandments.
Luke 4:1 describes how Jesus was full of the Holy Spirit when he entered the wilderness to be tempted. And Luke 4:14 describes the results of how He walked out of the wilderness after forty days of fasting in the power of the Spirit.

Lord, as I begin this time of fasting, fill me with your strength. Help me to use this as a time of growth, renewal, and healing. Calm my anxiety about what I might be giving up or times of discomfort that I might face.
Provide me with assurance that You will strengthen me during the difficult times and meet me for sweet moments of spiritual growth and surrender.
Help me focus not on what is being taken away, but what Im gaining as I use this as a spiritual discipline. With you leading, Holy Spirit, I am ready.
I dedicate this fast to You, Lord, and to Your glory.

The Position Of The Heart Is The Heart Of Fasting
It doesnt matter if you give up Facebook or fried food for God, the place of your heart matters most. 1 Samuel 15.22 says that The Lord looks at the inside of a man and not his outer appearance. This is also true for fasting. Matthew 6 17-18 states that fasting is not about displaying your faith to the world, but about your heart and intimacy with God Almighty. He will respond according to His timing and methods.

These are the type of behaviors and heart posture that you should avoid while fasting and praying. Pride, perfectionism, shame & guilt, criticalness, self-righteousness, and the belief that we are in control of what happens keeps our heart separated from God.
- Punishing your body into fasting or long prayers for quick deliverance. Many people fear they have a demon, think their horrible people, and fast to punish their bodies into doing the right thing. Punishing yourself to receive deliverance quickly is not healthy. The Bible says that transformation of the mind is a process as we become ONE with God. You have to be patient because you wont be a spiritually mature and healthy Christian in 2 months! It has taken me 10 years to be where I am and Im sure there is WAY more to learn.
