Hes influencing how I make my videos. He made a video addressing intermittent fasting:

His conclusion is that fasting, in rats, decrease cancer risks and improve fat loss. Intermittent fasting is a valid way of dieting to reduce hunger, but it has scientifically not been proven to be a better way to improve body composition than other types of dieting, such as controlling for the calories intake.

A study by Betts, Chowdhury, Gonzalez & Richardson found that morning fasting reduced energy expenditure in lean and obese adults compared to those who ate a prescribed breakfast. Therefore, the expected fat loss benefits of intermittent fasting may not be as great as reported given that the body is compensating from the fasting.

Honestly, I still dont enjoy that much, so its not my focus, but Im proud of continuing even a little bit.

The Preconceived Myths You Need To Dismantle Before Trying Intermittent Fasting

    1) Your metabolic rate will slow down.

Some people think that because youre not constantly snacking, your metabolic rate will slow down and youll eventually gain weight.

The truth is, not eating for a few more hours than usual will NOT change your metabolic rate. In fact, as I said above, I lost weight during this month of intermittent fasting.

    2) Youll automatically lose weight when you do intermittent fasting.

Just because I lost weight doesnt mean that you will too. What helped me was that my eating time was limited, so I ended up eating less.

However, some people might eat more during that small time period. It really depends on your total calorie intake.

    3) You can eat as much as you want when you stop your fast.

Youve still got to be careful about what you eat, just like you would when youre not doing intermittent fasting. If you eat badly in your eating time, then intermittent fasting might not be great for you.

    4) Hunger pains are bad for you.

Actually, you dont have to worry about hunger pains because they wont do you any harm according to research.

    5) You shouldnt exercise on an empty stomach.

Exercising on an empty stomach is fine, according to experts.

In fact, it might even come with significant health benefits. I felt lighter when I was running in the morning without food and my energy levels were fine.

Research has also suggested that running in the morning is good for your brain.

    6) You dont enjoy your meals as much because you want to eat fast.

    May Interfere With Social Eating

Any type of fasting can interfere with social eating, such as going out for meals with friends or dining with your family on holidays.

Food plays a major role in many cultural practices, so you should consider whether youre willing to curtail your social eating to fast.

That said, social eating may not be as big of a factor if you stick to the recommended 12 fasts per month for 48-hour fasting, as this is less of a time commitment than that of other fasting methods.

The Science Behind If Breakfast Is The Most Important Meal Of The Day

How Much Weight Can I Lose In A Week With Intermittent ...

According to Jeff, he concludes that the research proves that breakfast is not the most important meal of the day as long as you get the necessary protein and calorie intake in. Studies show that breakfast doesnt stoke your metabolic rate compared to breakfast skippers.

A study by Morgan, Zabik & Stampley found that in general, having breakfast increased the overall diet quality of the U.S. population since it was correlated to lower fat and cholesterol intake and greater intake of under-consumed nutrients. That said, this study analyzed behavior based on the average American. If you track your macros and dont just rely on junk foods for breakfast, you can probably get better results.

A 2017 scientific review article in the International Journal of Gastronomy and Food Science pointed to potential psychological and health benefits to eating breakfast rather than skipping it.

Intermittent Fasting Results And Weight Loss

Undeniably, the most common and also the most desired intermittent fasting result is weight loss.

Many diets promise rapid results but often lead to yo-yo effect, when after a tough period, dieters end up back where they started or heavier than before. Intermittent fasting is a great way to reach a sustainable weight loss not only lose but also maintain the desired weight, as confirmed by most Intermittent Fasters that have done our Intermittent Fasting Challenge.

So how come Intermittent Fasting is more sustainable than other diets?

The key to sustainable weight loss is being consistent and making your new diet a lifestyle rather than doing it temporarily. For many people, Intermittent Fasting allows this given they can still enjoy their favorite meals time from time, as long they adjust the eating schedule.

For our 21-day Intermittent Fasting Challenge, we suggest starting with a 12/12 fasting schedule, gradually increasing it to 16/8 fasting: a 16-hour fasting and an 8-hour eating window. Taking small steps allows your body to adapt to the new eating pattern slowly. It has proven to be the most effective if your goal is to make intermittent fasting a long term habit.

Like many diets, you need to remain consistent and make lifestyle changes to get results.

It might take a few weeks for you to drop your first pound from intermittent fasting. However, once you start, you can expect to lose about a pound each week. Some people can lose up to 10 pounds each month.

    Health Benefits Of Fasting

The big benefit of picking intermittent fasting for your nutrition plan is its so sustainable. With other diets youre either constantly counting calories, can only eat certain foods, or always cutting macronutrients. For example, the keto diet is quite effective for weight loss but the fact that you have to cut out your carbs forever isnt a sustainable diet for the majority of people . I mean imagine never being able to eat pizza, pasta, cookies, cereal, beer, wine, etc. ever again.

With intermittent fasting the big thing you have to be mindful of is to not eat during your fast. This is so simple anybody can follow it long term. But that doesnt always mean its easy. There are times when youre going to get hungry and tempted to eat. And then there are other times when social situations put you in a sticky position that practically force you to eat.

But lets say you go out with friends for dinner and end up eating and drinking until midnight. The good part with intermittent fasting is you just restart your fasting clock and wait a little longer to eat the next day. Its not like every other diet where you mess up by eating the wrong kind of food and then all your results go out the window.

So with intermittent fasting, you can keep your motivation going even if you have a little slip-up. If you ever have trouble with the hunger pangs during your fast then you could drink some of my approved fasting drinks:

    • zero cal sparkling water
    • water

    1 day: 0.5 2 pounds

How This One Buddhist Teaching Turned My Life Around

My lowest ebb was around 6 years ago.

I was a guy in my mid-20s who was lifting boxes all day in a warehouse. I had few satisfying relationships with friends or women and a monkey mind that wouldnt shut itself off.

During that time, I lived with anxiety, insomnia and way too much useless thinking going on in my head.

My life seemed to be going nowhere. I was a ridiculously average guy and deeply unhappy to boot.

The turning point for me was when I discovered Buddhism.

In many ways, Buddhism is all about letting things go. Letting go helps us break away from negative thoughts and behaviors that do not serve us, as well as loosening the grip on all our attachments.

Fast forward 6 years and Im now the founder of Hack Spirit, one of the leading self improvement blogs on the internet.

Just to be clear: Im not a Buddhist. I have no spiritual inclinations at all. Im just a regular guy who turned his life around by adopting some amazing teachings from eastern philosophy.

Reduce Your Chances Of Developing Insulin Resistance

When we feed our bodies a constant supply of sugar, carbohydrates, fat, and everything else that goes into us while we mindlessly eat our way through the day, our body doesnt need to create anything for itself.

When we remove food, even just for a little while, we teach our bodies to again rely on itself for the resources it needs.

Some studies show that people who practice intermittent fasting can reduce their blood sugar levels by several percentage points.
