No Food for Two Weeks (Water Fasting for 14 Days)

Having that *holy deliciousness* WATERMELON CELERY JUICE on Day Eleven was LIFE, so you can imagine that having FRUIT FOR BREAKFAST on Day Thirteen was the ULTIMATE THRILL. I dreamed for days on end of drowning my fruit in cinnamon, so thats exactly what I did. In this bowl was papaya , berries, grapes, and a mango. It took me about an hour to eat and I savored EVERY LAST BITE.

As far as the re-feeding process, I was on raw foods for my first day back on solid food. The next day, I had raw foods plus some steamed veggies and squash. The next day, I had all of those plus some cooked potato and cooked grains . The NEXT day all of that plus legumes!

It was a wild ride getting to eat all of those nutritious foods again! My body was so, so happy. And it was pretty amazing to see that I digested all of it extremely well, gained back only a couple of healthy pounds of water-weight from having nutrients in my bod, and my palette was overall refreshed in the best way. After a fast, its like introducing a baby to foods for the first time. You dont crave sugar or salt or the things you would pre-fast. Everything is in a healthy and good place.

I will be getting my fibroid checked in the next few weeks, and I am DYING to see whether it has shrunk. If it HAS, I will certainly be going back to True North for another 10-ish day fast later this summer to continue to shrinking it. I am very dedicated.

Changing What You Eat

  • 1Switch to drinking only water. Water flushes out your system, removing unneeded toxins, making it easier to lose weight. Moreover, water is free of calories, making it a much better choice than sugary drinks. In fact, if you can limit yourself to only water, your odds of losing the weight will increase.     Now, here we are at the home stretch!!!! I can literally FEEEEEL the excitement in my body and my bones even thinking back on it ahhhh!! One day, most likely in a BOOK I will share my journal entries with you from this time. I was so motivated, so inspired, in such a deep state of healing at this point, almost entirely disembodied but in a very powerful, deep healing kind of way.

    I was so READY at this point and so excited to get home to my boys, and I knew I was nearing the end of this fast. My body was in such a state of ease by the time I reintroduced juice on Day Fourteen that I knew I could easily continue on juice for quite a bit longer. But the other part of me was ready to bring back food so that I could get home to them.

    The mental aspect of fasting is for sure the hardest being away from those you love, knowing that they are missing and needing you, and missing and needing them too! While I was away, Jonathans beloved family dog Brooklyn passed away and I knew he needed me more than ever. There is a lot of wife guilt and cat mom guilt and overall human guilt for being away, and I know I had nothing but the UTMOST support from him and everyone in my life for being gone but I really missed home, and simultaneously my body was telling me it was pretty much done!

    What Do You Drink On A Water Fast

    Surprisingly, not just water! I drank plenty of herbal teas, plain soda water, and I also drank an electrolyte salt mixture which kept my body in check. Your body needs essential minerals to thrive. The formula for fasting juice was:

    • 1/2 tsp Food grade Epsom salts
    • 1/2 tsp Pink Himalayan Salt an essential compound our body uses to absorb and transport nutrients, maintain blood pressure, and maintain the right balance of fluid.)

    What Am I Allowed To Eat Or Drink While Fasting

    This question isnt as stupid as it seems. Even on a water fast, Dr. Fung says you can consume more than just water. And I highly recommend doing so to make the experience more pleasurable.

    • Not allowed: Diet Coke or Coke Zero or any other zero-calorie crap like that.
    • Allowed: Water flavored with coffee, tea, lime, any fruit infusion you can dream up, some apple cider vinegar, or sea salts bone broth multivitamins.

    Dr. Fung doesnt mention it in his book, but whats helped me stay hydratedwhich is super important but difficult to do while fastingis adding zero or very-low-calorie electrolyte powders to my water.

    The first time I fasted for a prolonged period, I didnt add electrolytes and felt light-headed and woozy whenever I made sudden movements. When I added electrolytes to my diet in future fasts, those sensations disappeared.

    Theres no brand in particular that Id recommend over any other. ticks all the boxes, gets great reviews, and only costs around 30 cents a serving. Alternatively, go to your local pharmacy and pick out whatever looks good to you.

    To make sure that you get the most out of this fast, I have divided the fasting period into 3 phases. The first phase or the pre-fasting phase lasts for 2 days, allowing your body to consume less and less solid foods and making your body more comfortable with liquid only diet. The second phase or the water fasting phase is the toughest of all, but by the time you complete this phase, I assure you that you will feel like a new person.
