You will think better and focus more clearly. Your mood and energy level will improve. Joint pain will diminish. And you will sleep better. You will spend less time worrying about poor health symptoms, so you will be able to spend more time loving God and your neighbor. What Do I Fast

Give up something and spend time with God today!

It’s up to you! It’s a personal commitment between you and God. There are all different types of fasts. Some people do a fast called the Daniel Fast, some people fast specific foods or activities, i.e. chocolate, soda, TV, Social Media. Its very typical to fast a single meal, a whole day, or three days or more. Your personal fast should present a level of challenge, but it is very important to know your body, your options, and, most importantly, to seek God in prayer and follow what the Holy Spirit leads you to do. This is between you and God, and you are encouraged to pray about what type of fast is best for you. We also encourage you to seek the advice of a physician before starting any fast, especially if you have any health concerns.

Below we have provided a few suggestions of fasts:

A prayer and Fasting Guide is available in the Narthex and for .

We are not asking everyone to fast food and only drink water for 21 days. If God calls you to do that then go for it. We are asking that you seek the Lord as to how you will fast along with us. While it is good to give up certain things , a Biblical fast always involves abstaining from food intake of one kind or another and devoting more time to pray, listen and seek God. Below I have listed some ways to fast that you could consider as you are asking God to lead you as to how/what to fast. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.

WAYS TO FAST

As the Lord leads, you could choose one fast to participate in or a combination of fasts throughout the time. The key is to seek the Lord for His leading, make a decision on what to do and then stick to it. Be sure to pray for each other as we fast together and dont hesitate to lean on others for some encouragement and support. We are in this together.

Step : Set Your Objective

Why are you fasting? Is it for spiritual renewal, for guidance, for healing, for the resolution of problems, for special grace to handle a difficult situation? Ask the Holy Spirit to clarify His leading and objectives for your prayer fast. This will enable you to pray more specifically and strategically.

Through fasting and prayer we humble ourselves before God so the Holy Spirit will stir our souls, awaken our churches, and heal our land according to 2 Chronicles 7:14. Make this a priority in your fasting.

What Is The Daniel Fast

The Daniel Fast in the Bible is based on Daniel 1. King Nebuchadnezzar ordered his chief of staff to bring in some of the young men of Judahs royal family that had been captured and brought to Babylon. King Nebuchadnezzar wanted strong and healthy young men that were also learned and gifted with knowledge and good judgment to serve in his palace. The men would be trained for three years in the Babylonian language and literature. They would be served a daily ration of food and wine from the kings kitchens. Four of these men were Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah whom the chief of staff would rename with the Babylonian names, Belteshazzar, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, respectively.

Daniel was worried that the kings food and wine might not be acceptable to God, so he asked for permission to have something else to eat while he was there. The chief of staff at first said no because he was afraid that the king would be angry if his subjects were to eat the wrong things and become pale and thin and therefore lose their strength.

Daniel knew that his body was Gods temple so he spoke again and respectively asked if the chief of staff would test his idea. For ten days Daniel and his three friends would eat a diet of vegetables and water. If the chief of staff thought that they were losing their strength and vitality, they would switch to the kings food.

Days Of Prayer Is For You

If you sense that God has more for your life, 21 Days of Prayer is a great place to start believing Him for all that He has for you. This is a time when you will put seeking God first into practice, and when you do this, He will start working on your behalf like never before. You will see a difference in your relationships, your work, your family and every area of your life. It is then that you will best be able to spread His love to others.

In the New Testament, people fasted to minister to the Lord, ordain men to the ministry, and seek God in times of crisis. You must always have a purpose for fasting! …It is important to remember that fasting does not change God. He is the same before, during, and after you fast. But fasting will change YOU. It will help you keep the flesh under and become more sensitive to the Spirit of God.

Step : Put Yourself On A Schedule

For maximum spiritual benefit, set aside ample time to be alone with the Lord. Listen for His leading. The more time you spend with Him, the more meaningful your fast will be.

Morning Before work

  • Begin your day in praise and worship.
  • Read and meditate on Gods Word.
  • Invite the Holy Spirit to work in you to will and to do His good pleasure according to Philippians 2:13.
  • Invite God to use you. Ask Him to show you how to influence your world, your family, your church, your community, your country, and beyond.
  • Pray for His vision for your life and empowerment to do His will.

Noon Lunch break

  • Return to prayer and Gods Word.
  • Take a short prayer walk.
  • Spend time in intercessory prayer for your communitys and nations leaders, for the worlds unreached millions, for your family or special needs.

Evening

  • Get alone for an unhurried time of seeking His face.
  • If others are fasting with you, meet together for prayer.
  • Avoid television or any other distraction that may dampen your spiritual focus.

When possible, begin and end each day on your knees with your spouse for a brief time of praise and thanksgiving to God. Longer periods of time with our Lord in prayer and study of His Word are often better spent alone.

After this I looked, and there before me was a door standing open in heaven. And, the voice I had first heard speaking to me like a trumpet said, Come up here, and I will show you what must take place after this. At once I was in the Spirit, and there before me was a throne in heaven with someone sitting on it. And, the one who sat there had the appearance of jasper and ruby. A rainbow that shone like an emerald encircled the throne. Surrounding the throne were twenty-four other thrones, and seated on them were twenty-four elders. They were dressed in white and had crowns of gold on their heads. From the throne came flashes of lightning, rumblings and peals of thunder. In front of the throne, seven lamps were blazing. These are the seven spirit of God. Revelations 4:1-5

The Lord is inviting us to come up and see. Fasting and praying invites the inner workings of the Holy Spirit to be awakened to reveal truth, miracles, signs and wonders. The seven lamps the Apostle John saw represented the seven spirit of God His supernatural character given through a relationship with Jesus Christ.
