That led him to a fitness plan that he maintains to this day and with the same degree of tenacity. What may come as a surprise to some is that the actor usually trains on an empty stomach.
In a 2019 interview with Mens Health, Crews revealed that hes a practitioner of intermittent fasting. More popular now than ever before, this particular diet involves going long stretches of timeoften as much as 16 hourswithout eating anything at all .
According to Terry Crews, fasting helped put his body back on track after a short-lived rut. In describing the shift, he said, I dont like the way I feel. Ive got to change something. Let me try thisAnd you know what? There might be another stage where I try something else.
When asked about his diet in 2016, Crews told UK-based Coach Magazine, Most days Ill eat my first meal at 2pm and my last meal at 10pm. I like to work out in the morningIm a big wake up, hit it, get it done kinda guythen eat my biggest meal in the eveningI find that restricting the times when I eat means I eat less.
He went on to explain, For the first four or five days I was so hungry it was unbelievable, but all of a sudden my body adapted and the hunger pains went away. Now I dont eat as much, and I get full a lot faster. I also save my carbs for my evening meal.

Terry Crews Supplement Regime
Terry takes a casein protein powder about thirty minutes before going to bed. Casein protein provides a slow release of amino acids through the night while his body is in its maximum muscle-building state.
Before his workout, Terry does not have a traditional pre-workout. Instead, he focuses on zero-calorie compounds in order to stay in his fasted state. He will have a cup of black coffee about 30 minutes before the workout begins, which contains about 100 milligrams of caffeine.
Terry adds a scoop of powdered branch chain amino acids to his pre-workout cup of coffee. The powder contains six grams of BCAAs per scoop in a 2:1:1 ratio of leucine, isoleucine, and valine.
Terry Crews Diet Regimen
Meal #0 : A glass of amino acids. He drinks a gallon of amino acids a day.
Terry might also have a cup or two of coffee in a day, but with coconut oil and no sugar or cream. The oil provides healthy fats that his body needs in a fasting cycle.
Meal #1 : Eggs and bacon with a salad, or a charcuterie board filled with salami, cheeses, bread, and of course, almonds.
Meal #2 : Protein shake.
Meal #3 : Bread, pasta, bison ribeye, sweet potatoes, and broccoli.
Snack : Cheesecake/Pudding/Pie/Pinkberry
Terry Crews is a self-proclaimed dessert guy. He does not end his day without a slice of cheesecake or two. Terry being Terry uses almond flour as a base for the cheesecake as it provides him with essential healthy fats.
Terry Crews follow the IF diet six days a week and allows himself one cheat day. On his cheat days, the Hollywood star eats whatever he wants pizza, ice cream, pancakes, you name it.

For the most part, Terry Crews fasting plan is a typical 16:8 plan, though his eating window does fall later in the day than is usual. My first meal is at 2 p.m., he says, and then I eat from 2 to 10. He also allows himself some indulgences which technically break the fast a spoon of coconut oil, for example.
Within the times I dont eat the fasting period, which is a 16-hour fasting, he says, I drink amino acid drinks. Ill have coffee, maybe tea sometimes Ill have a little coconut oil on a spoon , that kind of thing. But its never a meal.
He takes it a step further occasionally and allows himself a cheat day or even two. And not just a cheat day but, in his own words, a legendary cheat day when he eats whenever and whatever he wants. Heres how he explains it:
Its one of those things that actually helps you work out. When you say, dont do this, dont do that, its like when they say dont step on the grass. The first thing you want to do is step on the grass. He continues, What you have to do is always indulge yourself occasionally so that you can keep your sanity. I eat really, really good really clean, but sometimes theres a whole weekend where Im like, Hey, I eat whatever I want.
Of course, part of it may be down to his workout. If Crews intermittent fasting plan is a little lax in some areas, his exercise routine certainly isnt.

Crews doesn’t eat his first meal until 2 p.m. and eats as late as 10 at night. In his 16 hours of fasting, he will allow himself to drink coffee, tea, coconut oil, or amino acid drinks. Crews’ diet includes foods such as apples, vitamin shakes, protein shakes, yogurt with granola, omlets, salad, and chicken.

Even though he is very busy with his acting career, Terry still ensures that he sticks to a workout regime.
He says it keeps his mind clear.
He told Mens Fitness that he just loves running.
I usually run four miles a day and I can do that in 30 minutes. Running makes me feel so good the endorphin rush it gives has the same effects as an antidepressant.
He says he really notices the difference in his body when he doesnt run he says he becomes irritable then and is not the same person.
But he also realizes that he is not going to get very ripped if he just does running each day. So he also lifts weights four times a week.
He likes using basic exercises and powerful, big movements that work his whole body.
He says its good to incorporate bodyweight stuff into his training.
He believes that resistance is very important.
